1. Can a liquid line solenoid be sized by knowing the connection size?
No, a solenoid must be sized by knowing system flow and capacity in tons.
2. What is wrong if the outlet of a liquid line drier is frosted?
The drier is restricted and needs replaced.
3. If system refrigerant charge is changed from R-12 to R-22 will a different distributor be required?
Yes.
4. Does Flow Controls have a bi-flow suction line drier?
No, a standard suction line drier installed in the common suction line of the heat pump is recommended.
5. How do you know if the liquid line drier should be changed?
Change the drier if there is a wet reading in the sight glass.
6. Why does the sensing bulb on a TXV make a rattling noise?
There is solid ballast in the bulb which will rattle if shaken under abnormal circumstances.
7. Can Flow Controls solenoids be exposed to rain and snow?
No, all of Flow Controls solenoid coils are NEMA rated not weather proof.
8. Can I replace a TXV which has a bleed hole with a TXV which does not?
Yes, if you add a hard start kit which contains capacitors and relays.
9. Will the AC system operate if the liquid line drier is installed backwards?
No, there will be too much pressure drop.
10. Does an external equalizer line on a TXV balance system pressure?
No, you need a bleed hole for that purpose.
11. What is the tonnage of an XB1019HC1B?
This is a replacement power assembly number which cannot determine tonnage without also knowing the cage port number.
12. Can a BFK drier be installed in the suction line?
No, there is too much pressure drop.
13. Is a 200RB solenoid bi-flow?
Only if the bi-flow kit (KS30293) is installed.
14. Which way do you turn the superheat adjustment screw on a TXV?
Turn the adjustment screws Clockwise to increase superheat Counter-Clockwise to decrease superheat.
