AACHEN, GERMANY, December 12, 2012 – Heat pumps are sustainable heating systems that contribute to reducing carbon footprint and end-users’ energy and maintenance bill. Manufacturers of heat pumps continuously make their heat pump range more efficient. And they are successful.

One of the recipes of their success uses the components and integrated solutions from Emerson Climate Technologies, the provider of Copeland Scroll™ compressors as well as Alco and Dixell flow controls. The group offers a scalable product range: single components that can be implemented into a heat pump, combinations of compressors and flow control devices, and a refrigerant module integrating its technologies. The new Refrigerant Module Heating (RMH) tailored to the various types of heat pump applications integrates multiple Emerson solutions. The modular concept reduces complexity and incorporates the development effort required for achieving the performance, reliability and synergy between most key components of the refrigerant circuit.

Emerson Climate Technologies was first to market with a full range of scroll compressors designed for hydronic heat pumps. It has capitalized on its extensive experience to develop the next generation of variable speed scroll with inverter drive that is used in the RMH. The optimized interaction between the compressor, the drive and other components such as electronic expansion valves and the refrigerant circuit controller enable performances meeting efficiency class A+++*. The performance of the heat pump is determined by the design parameters applied by the manufacturer to the entire system. The module is fully certified (EMI, EMV, VDE) and passed the stringiest tests simulating the toughest stress it may see over its lifetime. The refrigerant module offers the possibility to reduce time to market and resources while delivering superior reliability and efficiency.
