NUREMBERG, GERMANY, October 11, 2012 – Efficient cooling solutions are becoming increasingly important. This is because the cooling of goods and processes for commercial and industrial applications are with no alternatives – it is a must and these refrigeration systems are essential. But costs for electrical power are rising and the contribution of cooling to an application’s energy bill is significant. Therefore, installers, contractors and consultants are searching for more efficient technical solutions for their customers. For those reasons Emerson Climate Technologies extends its Copeland semi-hermetic Stream line-up. The new Stream Digital compressor offers simple continuous cooling capacity modulation to achieve energy efficiency and allows important operating cost savings. At the same time it has the potential to improve the quality of temperature control by reducing variations around the set point. Copeland Digital technology is an economical and reliable alternative to frequency inverters for which all Stream models are also released. Digital technology is based on controlling a high cycle solenoid valve fitted on one of the cylinder heads. The valve actuates a piston that controls the flow of gas into the suction area of the valve plate. The compressor always runs at constant speed which solves the challenges of oil return, as well as mechanical and electrical stress on the system.
As of now 16 models of four and six cylinder compressors from 62 to 153 m³/h are available. For medium temperature cooling, full nominal capacity ranges from 31 to 80 kW with R404A and from 18 kW to 42 kW with R134a. In low temperature applications with R404A a nominal cooling capacity from 10 to 25 kW can be realized. Other refrigerants will follow. The continuous modulation from 50 to 100% (4-cylinder) and 33 to 100% (6-cylinder) ensures that the capacity and power match the refrigeration load in an optimal way. All models are fitted with CoreSense™ Diagnostics that provides advanced compressor protection and diagnostics. The performance for R404A and R134a as well as full technical and electrical information are available in the updated version of the Copeland and Alco selection software ‘Select 7.6’ and on the new Select online version (http://selectonline.emersonclimate.eu). The new Stream Digital product portfolio covers applications for a wide range of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems to save energy and money.
