New R134a Large Commercial Scroll For Heat Recovery and High Condensing Applications

AACHEN (GERMANY), March 18, 2014 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), is developing a new scroll for the recovery and reuse of available heat. The new R134a Copeland Scroll™ ZH*KCE heating compressors can contribute to reducing energy costs for industries where the heat generated by processing or production is too low to be reused for other heating purposes or where generated heat is simply wasted, as it is the case for dry coolers used with chillers.

ZH*KCE scroll compressors will allow systems to recover the energy from warm heat sources with temperatures from 20-40°C – such as exhaust air or water returning from cooling processes – and apply that energy to heat water up to 83°C. Such systems can easily recover the wasted energy from dry cooler water loops. The resulting hot medium can be used for premise heating, sanitary water production, pool heating or other process heating. The hospitality field, food industry, as well as process cooling or heat pump applications can benefit tremendously from this heat recovery and high condensing scroll compressor. If not directly used within the same location, the energy can be sold to a district heating provider if possible.

Emerson Climate Technologies will launch by end the end of 2014 eight ZH*KCE
compressor models with a heating capacity of 40 to 150 kW, that are qualified to reach up to 85°C at condensing and 40°C at evaporation. With a coefficient of performance of over 4.2 at those conditions, this compressor can largely contribute to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and achieve the near zero target.
