AACHEN (GERMANY), October 15, 2014 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), will showcase the largest of its Copeland Scroll™ compressors at the Chillventa trade fair. Ever since its launch in spring 2014, the ZP725K has been the only scroll compressor on the market with 158kW cooling capacity*. This 60hp scroll is an addition to the existing 20hp, 25hp, 30hp and 40hp R410A Copeland Scroll compressors for large commercial applications. It will be shown at Chillventa as part of a tandem assembly, with a 30hp ZP385K. This tandem is the latest multiple assembly that was qualified by Emerson Climate Technologies. It offers a new alternative to chiller systems around 500kW (two circuits) with the equivalent modulation capability as a 30hp trio.
The wide range of Copeland Scroll even or uneven tandem and trio assemblies enables manufacturers to produce a full range of chillers up to 1 MW (air-cooled) and 1.25 MW (water-cooled), while keeping a reduced number of compressor models in stock. A wide modulation range can be achieved by multi-scroll assemblies thanks to the different combinations they enable: up to 12 capacity steps can be achieved. This ensures short lead time for customers and increases inventory turns.
System efficiency is becoming more and more important because of minimum performance required by European regulations. Eurovent directory publications have shown that systems with scroll technology and R410A refrigerant demonstrate an overall better seasonal performance (ESEER) than similar systems using R134a screw compressors. In addition, chillers with Copeland Scroll compressors are more compact and the performance of trio assemblies is not affected by any unloading feature when only one of the three compressors is running. Those performances lead to a lower applied and running cost for OEMs and end-users.
