Emerson single screw unit leaves Moscow prominent ice rink in the cold – on time!

  • On-time execution
  • Two Vilter single screw units
  • City officials very satisfied

AACHEN, GERMANY, April 02, 2013 – Sokolniki Park Management along with Moscow City Officials envisioned end of 2012 a Christmas Holiday event to attract millions of visitors to its park and a new 5400m2 artificial outdoor ice rink. It is the 2nd largest in Russia. To entice visitors, an ice skating competition was promoted to occur on December 15th. The project demanded perfect execution. Emerson Climate Technologies supported Refrigeration Engineering and its partner companies Giprokholod and GRAN to complete the construction and installation on-time for the opening ceremony.

“Delivering compressor units two weeks before the scheduled date and shipping it air freight we helped our customer and his partners meet the challenge to design, deliver and construct the ice rink on time. It is one of the largest outdoor artificial ice rinks in Russia and we are really glad that our customers are absolutely satisfied”, explains Zoran Stajić, Sales Manager of Emerson Climate in Eastern Europe.

Besides the size of the ice rink the technical data of the R507 refrigeration system are also impressive. With a cooling capacity of 584 kW per unit two Vilter single screw units VSS-751 from Emerson were installed. The electrical motors (with a rated power of 350 kW each) have each an Emerson Control Technique variable speed drive to adapt the volatile cooling capacity of the ice rink over the year. And glycol as secondary coolant is used in a 9 km long piping system under the ice rink slab.
