Modern Refrigeration Systems Reduce Overheads

AACHEN, GERMANY, February 26, 2011— In the food retail sector, the proportion of total overheads attributable to refrigeration systems is growing, while at the same time, there is considerable potential for savings in this area. Emerson Climate Technologies will be showcasing the right products and solutions to realise this potential at the EuroShop trade fair in Düsseldorf.

The latest study by the EHI Retail Institute, ‘Energy Management in Retail 2010’, sets out the situation clearly: Energy costs are constantly on the rise. This trend is set to continue in the coming years due primarily to an increase in the prices of energy sources. To counter this trend, sectors that are heavy consumers of energy will have to improve efficiency. According to EHI, the refrigeration of food is one such sector. In-demand solutions therefore integrate the latest refrigeration components and systems that have been developed with energy efficiency in mind. Here in Europe, Emerson Climate Technologies is a leading manufacturer of compressors, components for refrigeration systems and intelligent electronic solutions.

In the case of compressors – the most important component in any refrigeration system – the new ‘Stream’ series is already setting new standards in the industry. For refrigeration systems, this sophisticated piston compressor means that improvements of up to 15% in seasonal efficiency can be achieved compared to the market average. Refrigerating capacities of 33 kW to 80 kW enable a wide variety of normal and low-temperature applications to be catered for.

The new Emerson CoreSense™ technology is being introduced in parallel with these compressors. This provides system operators with a simple solution for servicing and maintenance so as to operate the refrigeration system in an optimum state over its entire lifecycle. Both solutions, in combination with an intelligently controlled complete system, for which components and solutions from the ALCO and Dixell brands are also available, ultimately bring about considerable savings in overheads, short payback periods and convenient serviceability.
