Unit 45 Goes On-Line With Intermodal Innovation

Unit 45 Offers a High-Quality Portfolio of Reefer Containers

AARHUS, DENMARK, June 27, 2012 - The Dutch reefer container lessor Unit 45 has added premium services to their high-quality portfolio. Based on 45-foot Thermo King containers, Unit 45 delivers some of the market’s highest standards within reefer containers.

Premium services based on ProAct™ Transport telematics

Today, all new Magnum+ containers in the Unit 45 fleet are equipped with an Emerson RMM+ telematics solution . The telematics solution, consisting of an RMM+ modem and 24/7, global access to a Global Monitoring Server (GMS), offers real-time connectivity based on 3G machine-to-machine communication. RMM+ transfers reefer container condition data hourly to a central server, which also boasts an array of valuable features such as remote setting of pre-trip inspections, retrieval of data log and controller software updates.

Furthermore, it responds immediately in case the container controller generates an alarm, if power to the container is switched on or off, or if the temperature setpoint is changed during the trip.

A competitive alternative to traditional road transport solutions

The telematics solutions have enabled Unit 45 to convert traditional road transport trailer customers into intermodal and short-sea solutions, as these additional services allow full transparency in the cold chain.

“Our customers increasingly demand transparency and improved cargo protection in the intermodal transport”, says technical manager Jan Nouwen of Unit 45. And he continues: “With the new RMM+ telematics solution from Emerson, we are able to give our customers what they expect from us – and what is more, data can be customized and filtered to suit individual needs for information and data through secure login accounts to the Global Monitoring Server. On top of the extra value we add to our customers’ businesses every day, we can now monitor our entire container fleet, and also guide our customers in case of any irregularities or questions on how to use and retrieve data from the system."
