60 HP Copeland Scroll™ compressor for commercial AC launching in the U.S. in 2013
ST. LOUIS, January 28, 2013 – Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), is launching the world’s largest R-410A scroll compressor, a 60 HP Copeland Scroll™ compressor for commercial air conditioning applications. The new compressor, which features CoreSense™ Communications, will be available in its first voltage in late-2013, with additional voltage roll-outs planned.
In designing this compressor, Emerson expanded the use of R-410A in large commercial AC systems. This large compressor is ideal for larger commercial applications, such as 120-360 ton air conditioning chillers and large rooftops found in shopping centers, office building and hospitals. Emerson will also offer the 60 HP compressor in a variety of tandem and trio configurations enabling circuits up to 180 tons with a wide range of capacity modulation.
“The 60 HP Copeland Scroll compressor offers value by delivering 50% more capacity than comparable compressors while staying within the same footprint. Additionally, end users are provided the peace of mind that comes from having real time communications and diagnostics on board,” said Bart Powelson, director of Commercial Marketing, Emerson Climate Technologies Air Conditioning Business. “The new 60 HP Copeland Scroll compressor is a valuable addition to our current 20-40 HP product offering. With the flexibility of configurations and the power of compressor electronics, Emerson continues to deliver value in large commercial applications.”
In addition to offering the Copeland Scroll brand’s proven reliability and efficiency, the 60 HP large commercial Copeland Scroll compressor with CoreSense Communications can stream real-time diagnostics information on the compressor's operation to the system controller. By using the compressor as a sensor, valuable data from inside the system can be accessed and monitored in real time by the controller, improving performance and reliability – even proactively shutting down the compressor to prevent a catastrophic failure.
The 60 HP large commercial Copeland Scroll compressor with CoreSense Communications was displayed last fall at the European trade show, Chillventa, and makes its North American debut at AHR Expo this month.
