Emerson Climate Technologies Launches Next Generation Copeland Scroll UltraTech™ Compressor

New, Innovative Two-Step Modulation Design Offers a Significant Improvement in Efficiency, Reliability and Comfort Levels

ST. LOUIS, November 9, 2010 Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today launched the next generation Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor. The new modulating compressor offers contractors an easy-to-apply solution to enhance system efficiency, comfort and reliability for both air conditioning and heat pump systems. Copeland Scroll UltraTech helps achieve ENERGY STAR® requirements in residential, light commercial and geothermal applications.

Developed for premium residential systems, the next generation Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor provides enhanced humidity control, greater efficiency and quieter operation to give homeowners increased indoor comfort levels, saving up to 40 percent on energy costs as compared to conventional HVAC systems.

“With next generation Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressors, contractors have more opportunities than ever to upsell and delight their customers with improved comfort and energy savings,” said Karl Zellmer, vice president of sales, Emerson Climate Technologies Inc., Air Conditioning division. “By leveraging the streamlined manufacturing process and all 15 design improvements of the fifth generation Copeland Scroll platform, the next generation UltraTech compressor offers improved efficiency and reliability with quieter operation.”

With its revolutionary modulating two-step capacity design, 100 percent at full-load and 67 percent at part-load, this compressor maintains precise temperature levels and significantly lowers relative humidity, ultimately eliminating uneven cooling peaks and valleys and allowing for improved overall cooling comfort. The new Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor offers customers a solution that not only provides better part-load SEER performance (2-4% increase), but also provides enhanced full-load EER performance (1.5-5.5% increase). It also offers an expanded operating envelope, increased to 145 degrees Fahrenheit condensing.
