Service Reduces Facility Maintenance Expense by Reducing Dispatch Events
ST. LOUIS, August 9, 2011– Today Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), released a new service called Smart Dispatch, which drives maintenance savings by reducing unnecessary dispatch events through root cause analysis and remote resolution.
When an equipment alarm or maintenance notice occurs, dispatch decisions are typically based on simple event categorization or contractor terms rather than substantive insights confirming the necessity and severity of the dispatch. Retailers can incur a cost each time a contractor is sent to the site regardless of whether a repair needs to be performed, and the expense can increase when dispatches occur outside service agreement terms. Smart Dispatch reduces maintenance spend by systematically filtering, triaging and remotely managing alarms through a proprietary process developed by Emerson’s industry experts. The service combines Emerson’s best practices for alarm management with customized processing rules to fit the business needs of each retailer.
When an alarm or notification occurs, Emerson’s ProAct® Service Center technicians remotely investigate site and equipment conditions and determine the best course of action based upon the customer’s business practices. Based on alarm legitimacy and urgency, technicians can remotely resolve, temporarily override, or delay dispatching a contractor. Unique preferences in store comfort as well as energy and maintenance spend influence the way alarm events are handled for each enterprise or division.
Web-based reports documenting repeat alarms allow retailers to view equipment performance indicators such as alarm and dispatch data and take action before operations are affected. Retailers can also view total monthly savings from dispatch cost avoidance, making it easy to understand quantify the service’s value.
Smart Dispatch can also track contractor reaction time in conjunction with alarm severity and repeat visits to help retailers ensure contractors adhere to the terms outlined in the service level agreement. This data provides retailers the ability to understand the performance quality of service they receive and to adjust contract terms when necessary.
