Emerson Aims For 2010 Industry Readiness with R-410A Product Lineup

ST. LOUIS, January 22, 2008 –   Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), showcased the broadest lineup of R-410A optimized products in the HVACR industry at the 2008 AHR Expo in New York. Emerson’s lineup aims to help contractors and OEMs prepare by providing the R-410A equipment needed to comply with the 2010 phase-out of HCFC equipment.

“We are a company committed to helping our customers be ready for 2010, just as we worked with them to successfully prepare for the 13 SEER transition, and just as we plan to be there for them for any future changes that come our way,” said Tom Bettcher, CEO, Emerson Climate Technologies. “That is why we have worked hard to provide the best and broadest selection of products optimized for R-410A, the air conditioning refrigerant of choice for 2010.”

Copeland Scroll® Compressors
Fresh off marking the 20th anniversary of Copeland Scroll® compressors, Emerson is approaching the production of its 5 millionth Copeland Scroll designed specifically for R-410A. The contractor-preferred, award-winning Copeland Scroll technology is available for both residential and commercial applications. The commercial Copeland Scroll compressor line was recently expanded to include 13, 15 and 30 horsepower models, fully optimized for use with R-410A.

Copeland Scroll Digital™
The 2007 AHR Expo Product of the Year, Copeland Scroll Digital™ is now available in   R-410A models through 12 horsepower for commercial air conditioning applications. Copeland Scroll Digital offers the ability to infinitely modulate compressor capacity from 10 to 100 percent and is ideal for commercial applications with widely varying loads or a need to maintain precise temperature and humidity control. This approach to capacity modulation is as much as 30 percent more efficient than traditional hot-gas bypass.

Emerson C-Series Thermal Expansion Valve
The C-Series TXV is designed and optimized specifically for use in R-410A systems, a critical difference from traditional TXVs as 2010 approaches. The C-Series TXV features the most precise superheat control in the industry, resulting in greatly enhanced compressor protection. This and other benefits from Emerson’s leading edge manufacturing process, result in a high-performance, extremely reliable thermal expansion valve optimized for R-410A. When combined with the Copeland Scroll® compressor, the C-Series TXV helps make up the most energy-efficient R-410A systems available. It joins the EKZ Filter Drier in the R-410A optimized product lineup of Emerson valves, controls and system protectors.

Emerson Climate Technologies System Design Simulator
System Design Simulator software, from Emerson Climate Technologies, helps manufacturers of air conditioning and heat pump systems design complete systems optimized for R-410A. By modeling key system factors like pressure, capacity, power, etc., the System Design Simulator helps manufacturers choose the best products for their R-410A systems. The System Design Simulator also models systems for various applications and refrigerants.
