Emerson Climate Technologies to Host Webinar Broadcasted Live from AHR Expo Show Floor on Jan. 21

“A Conversation on Refrigerants” Is Latest Installation of Emerson’s Making Sense Webinar Series, Featuring Panel Discussion About Alternate Refrigerants

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 7, 2013 — Emerson Climate Technologies, a business segment of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced it is hosting and broadcasting a complimentary webinar live on the show floor at the 66th International Air-Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration (AHR) Exposition.

The webinar kicks off at 2 p.m. EST/11 a.m. PST on Jan. 21 at Emerson’s booth No. 1031. Titled “A Conversation on Refrigerants,” this is the next installment in Emerson’s ongoing Making Sense webinar series, designed to educate and inform those within the HVACR industry about new technologies, regulations, the latest trends and environmental updates.

This special, live presentation is a panel discussion hosted by Rajan Rajendran, Ph.D., vice president of engineering services and sustainability for Emerson Climate Technologies. Dr. Rajendran is responsible for technical support to OEMs and end users for Emerson’s refrigeration business, including the design services and testing businesses. He serves on the Low-GWP Alternative Refrigerants Evaluation Program Task Force committee at the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and the working groups for A2L Refrigerants committee at Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

Guest panelists, among the industry’s most trusted thought leaders on this subject, include:

  • Barbara Minor, senior technical fellow at DuPont Fluoroproducts. Minor has been in the refrigerants industry for 24 years and has developed several new refrigerants for stationary and automotive applications. She is currently working on low-GWP refrigerants for stationary refrigeration.
  • Mark W. Spatz, global refrigerant technology leader at Honeywell’s Fluorine Products. For more than 20 years, Spatz was responsible for assisting the air conditioning and refrigeration industries in the transition to environmentally friendlier refrigerants, including conducting the original application work on R-410A and the new LGWP refrigerants.
  • Dr. Brett Van Horn, global project leader, R&D, at Arkema, Inc. Van Horn has worked in the fluorochemicals industry for more than 10 years, focusing on the development of blowing agents for polymer foaming and on alternative refrigerants, including the development of low-GWP refrigerants for air conditioning and refrigeration.

In this complimentary webinar, attendees will learn:

  • What are the new refrigerants being developed for retrofit and new applications that can help lower your stores’ carbon footprint?
  • In an uncertain regulatory climate, what should I be doing now to minimize refrigerant transition costs in the future?
  • How should I evaluate lower-GWP refrigerants, both synthetic and natural?
