Latest Installation of Emerson’s Making Sense Webinar Series Will Take an In-depth Look at Upcoming DOE Regulations and Achieving Compliance
ST. LOUIS, March 10, 2015 — With the Department of Energy’s (DOE) energy regulations taking effect in less than two years, Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), will provide a timely overview of the technology alternatives in their latest Making Sense webinar.
The complimentary webinar, entitled Meeting Future Refrigeration Energy Regulations With Today’s Technology Alternatives, will be held from 2–3 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, March 17. Webinar presenters will provide an overview of the DOE’s regulations and then explore the specific technology alternatives you can use to achieve compliance, including those most likely to be integrated into future refrigeration equipment:
- Low-condensing refrigeration — floating head pressures with ambient temperatures can result in dramatic reductions in energy consumption. Learn how electronic expansion valves enable condensing systems to maintain head pressure at 10–20 °F above ambient temperature, resulting in a 15–20 percent EER improvement.
- Compression technologies — high-efficiency variable speed compressors are recommended by the DOE to reduce energy consumption. We’ll compare scroll, hermetic and semi-hermetic compressors and show how each can impact energy usage.
- Condenser coil performance (temperature differential) — increasing the condenser coil surface area can also increase airflow. But, will this mean a trade-off in compact equipment design?
The webinar will be presented by Kurt Knapke, vice president of engineering and electronics; Ani Jayanth, foodservice marketing manager; and Brian Buynacek, PE, LEED AP, refrigeration engineer, all of Emerson Climate Technologies. Knapke joined Emerson Climate Technologies in 1997 and has held positions in engineering, marketing, sales and product planning. Jayanth is the foodservice marketing manager for the Refrigeration Business Unit, where he guides the division’s product road map to meet the pending EPA and DOE regulations as well as to promote product technology serving the foodservice market segment. Buynacek is a senior refrigeration engineer with 24 years of experience and has led more than 150 client projects focused on applying advanced technologies for foodservice refrigeration.
