Emerson Climate Technologies to Host “Making Sense of Natural Refrigerants” Webinar

Next Installation of Emerson’s Making Sense Webinar Series to Outline the Future Generation of Refrigeration System Architecture

ST. LOUIS, May 18, 2014 — Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced it is hosting a complimentary webinar entitled “Making Sense of Natural Refrigerants” on May 20 at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT.

This seventh installment in Emerson’s ongoing Making Sense webinar series will provide an in-depth look at the challenges the refrigeration industry faces related to the use of refrigerants with high global warming potential (GWP) in response to anticipated legislation. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), through its Clean Air Act, could impose new regulations requiring the reduction of HFC use as soon as this summer.

With the potential for new regulations, the next generation of refrigeration system architecture is on the horizon. It is becoming increasingly important to develop refrigeration systems based on natural refrigerants such as ammonia, propane and CO2. In this free webinar, attendees will learn:
  • the background on new refrigerants
  • why propane and ammonia are gaining popularity
  • the differences between CO2 and HFCs
  • three system architectures that use natural refrigerants
Andre Patenaude, director, CO2 business development of Emerson Climate Technologies, will lead the webinar. Patenaude has gained extensive experience with various refrigeration system architectures and alternative, emerging refrigerant technologies throughout his nearly 30-year career.

The Emerson Climate Technologies Making Sense webinar series is designed to educate and inform those within the HVACR industry about new technologies, regulations, the latest trends and  environmental updates.
