Emerson Climate Technologies Modifies Monitoring Solution Product Name to Better Reflect Enhanced Value Offered to Global Shipping Lines

ProAct™ Transport provides end-to-end communication needs for reefer container business

ST. LOUIS, September 27, 2013 – Emerson Climate Technologies - Transportation Solutions, ApS, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced that the company’s shipping container monitoring product has been renamed ProAct™ Transport. The change reflects the integration of Emerson Climate Technologies and the Marine Controls Business acquired from Johnson Controls in 2012. The combination allows global transportation customers to leverage Emerson’s refrigeration and monitoring technologies, including ProAct services for retail stores, honed in commercial and retail markets.

Emerson's ProAct™ service center remotely processes, triages and resolves alarms around the world around the clock. The ProAct suite of remote services provides timely information on energy expenditure, maintenance costs, refrigerant leaks and shrink causes. Systematic measurement of these cost drivers provides a powerful basis for everyday decision making by allowing retailers to quickly identify opportunities for operational improvement.

ProAct Transport, formerly myREEFER, is an integrated solution powered by container hard-ware and local and global monitoring systems and infrastructure. It offers automated, centralized remote monitoring and management of reefer containers – covering their entire journey from producer to final destination. Using this solution offers users valuable results, including reliable, cost-effective reefer operation, better and tighter climate control and rapid detection and correction of system issues.

“Emerson Climate Technologies is the largest North American manufacturer of retail focused refrigeration and HVAC control systems, with more than 26,000 installations globally. We provide remote monitoring and services for more than 15,000 retail sites and specialize in developing energy saving techniques and solutions for chain supermarkets,” said Robert Svensson, product marketing manager, Emerson Climate Technologies-Transportation Solutions. ”The announcement of ProAct Transport enables us to bring more value to the global transportation market. Marine container monitoring and control, combined with our compressors and diagnostic technologies opens the door for Emerson to provide a full range of powerful solutions to help global shipping companies and container owners ensure their cargo is transported in optimal conditions. The name change to ProAct Transport sends a strong message that we are going to the next level with our container management solution.”

Emerson’s approach to ProAct Transport expands upon skills and knowledge in container monitoring systems utilizing several key elements:

  • Pervasive connectivity to provide “near anytime” access to individual container information
  • Data acquisition and warehousing infrastructure to accumulate data for the fleet
  • Robust enterprise level tools for data access and analysis
  • Data driven applications employing best practices to efficiently address daily operations and management of the container fleet

The ProAct Transport solution is enabled by outfitting each reefer container with a connectivity device (RMM+) and a wireless data subscription. Once enabled, containers will connect to Emerson’s ProAct Transport infrastructure to provide access and collect critical operating data. Emerson developed applications will analyze the data and generate actionable reports for managing the containers and fleet more efficiently. By employing this system, shipping lines will be able to drive lower operating costs and minimizing risk in their container operations.
