Troubleshooting 

A PSC motor, as one type of AC induction motor, has a design such that the amp draw is often a direct function of the watt draw for the motor. However, this is not the case for a Brushless Permanent Magnet/Electronically Controlled Motor (BPM/ECM) such as the RESCUE EcoTech motor. With an electronically controlled motor design the amp draw may not directly correlate with watt draw. It is possible to install a RESCUE EcoTech motor and see little to no reduction in amp draw, but still have a significant reduction in watt draw. Measuring energy usage with a true watt meter is the best way to verify energy savings.

The RESCUE EcoTech motor is programmed to work on a specific ramp rate when installed with the blower wheels found in most HVAC systems. If the motor is operated without a load on the shaft, the motor will sense that there is something wrong at start-up and quickly shuts down.

	Loose mounting causing enough torsional movement to the motor	Turn off motor. Tighten screws of the mounting.
	Bench testing without the load	Motor will not start correctly without appropriate load, must installed in a blower assembly.
	Low inertia of blower wheel	Some HVAC applications, such as fan coil/ventilators will have more than 1 small diameter blower wheel (low inertia) coupled to a common shaft.  May need to switch to original PSC motor.

Currently, the motor control board is not yet available. All RESCUE EcoTech motors are covered by a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty.
