The SecureStart™ electronics module is designed for use with single phase, Copeland® compressors in a variety of applications. It is best suited for applications where in-rush current is regulated or where current variations are common. This device can be used with single-stage Copeland Scroll UltraTech® (two-stage or Copeland Scroll Digital™ compressors.
Dramatically Reduced Light Flicker
Upon start-up, electric motors consume large amounts of current as they accelerate and build up a magnetic field. Starting currents may reach five to eight times the levels of nominal operating currents. By limiting starting current by up to 75%, the SecureStart™ module eliminates nuisances such as light flicker caused by current variations (see graph below). Over time SecureStart™ self-adjusts to motor starting current thereby eliminating any manual calibration. The SecureStart™ module is designed for motors with a maximum operating current of 32 amps. |
Compressor Protection
SecureStart™ provides additional benefits by continuously monitoring motor current and voltage. When conditions such as low supply voltage or locked rotor exist, this module will switch off the motor. A delay function provides additional protection in the event of an emergency shutdown.
