Rajan Rajendran, Ph.D., of Emerson Climate Technologies to Present Webinar Titled “Refrigerants Update”

Industry Expert to Review Latest Developments and Emerging Trends in Low GWP Refrigerant Technology

SIDNEY, Ohio, Oct. 25, 2011 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced today that Rajan Rajendran, Ph.D., Director of Engineering Services, will present “Refrigerants Update” during a webinar hosted by the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration News on Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. ET.

Dr. Rajendran will discuss the refrigeration industry’s progress in converting from chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)- to hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)-based and hydroflurocarbon (HFC) refrigerants and its positive impact on reducing ozone depletion. He will review the performance and the global warming potential (GWP) characteristics of currently available HFCs and emerging hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) blends, along with a discussion of system technologies as future low GWP options become known.

Those who attend this webinar will learn:

  • The importance of reducing leaks and charge through systems technology modifications as refrigerant costs increase
  • Why end-of-life refrigerant management is important
  • How selecting future refrigerants system efficiency impacts energy consumption, its cost of operation and the environment
  • Government regulations that will affect systems architecture, refrigerant choice and life cycle cost
