– Emerson Climate Technologies Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced the launch of an online Annual Energy Savings Calculator
that shows estimated annual energy savings based on the application of its Copeland Scroll™ Outdoor Condensing Units (X-Line) vs. standard technologies.
Compact and efficient, X-Line units offer operators of commercial coolers and freezers potential energy savings up to 25 percent over standard technologies. Ranging in size from 1.5 - 6 HP, the X-Line series offers users an upgrade payback of less than one year based upon energy savings alone. Additional savings may be available through custom rebate programs through local utility companies. The energy savings shown in the calculator can be printed and submitted to utility companies when applying for custom energy rebates.
The Energy Savings Calculator provides estimated annual savings over standard scroll, hermetic reciprocating, and semi-hermetic reciprocating condensing units. Users are asked to make selections in three categories:
- box temperature ranges for coolers (-5°F to 40°F) or freezers (-40°F to 0°F)
- geographic cooling zone (chosen via a cooling zone map of North America or a pull-down menu)
- local energy rate, based on $/kWh (chosen via a pull-down menu)
Once the variables are selected, a clear picture of energy savings potential is displayed. The calculator presents the estimated annual operating cost of the X-Line series units and lists the potential annual savings over the other technologies. Savings are shown for midpoint operating temperatures (25°F evaporator temperatures for coolers, -20°F for freezers).

Energy efficiency is achieved through the application of advanced compressor technology, variable speed fan motor control, large condenser coils and a high effiency fan blade.
X-Line units weigh less than standard units by up to 100 lbs., require 40% less installation space and offer advanced diagnostics and protection over traditional units. The X-Line series is also significantly quieter, operating at as low as 53 decibels.
