Emerson’s patented commissioning services benefit both new facilities, and facilities that are already open for business. With all commissioning services, Emerson conducts a thorough inspection of the store, and provides specific recommendations for improvement. Should the retailer desire, Emerson may return to verify the adequacy of improvements. Since Emerson never offers to take any action beyond inspection and verification, our third party independence is assured.

In Emerson’s E-Commissioning™ service, our experts scrutinize an existing store’s HVAC, lighting, and refrigeration equipment to ensure it is operating properly. Any deficiencies are identified and noted. When weighed against the cost of correction, deficiencies that make financial sense to repair are recommended in the final report. Finally, setpoints are established that enable each piece of equipment to operate optimally.

Emerson’s N-Commissioning service inspects new facilities to ensure they are constructed as specified. After a rigorous inspection, any failure points are noted so that the retailer may address the issue with the appropriate party – often times correcting it at minimal or no cost. In addition to potentially extending the life of the equipment, reducing future service calls, and lowering energy usage, identifying construction deficiencies prior to store opening may also protect the retailer against a voided warranty.

For retailers pursuing LEED certification, new store commissioning isn’t just a good idea – it’s a required part of the certification process. Beyond the mandatory requirements, two LEED credits are available as part of LEED NC Version 2.2. A new building must achieve a 10.5% energy cost savings to be awarded 1 point, while an existing building must achieve 3.5% energy cost savings. To achieve 2 points, a new building must achieve an energy cost savings of 14%, while an existing building must achieve 7%.
