Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), conducted a study focused on Chinese consumers’ attitudes and perceptions of the food retail industry. The study shows China’s supermarkets and convenience stores face a chilling dilemma: Chinese consumers want retailers to assure refrigerated food quality without any price increases. Emerson is urging China’s food retail and cold chain industries to work together to improve food safety through more consumer education and the adoption of advanced refrigeration system technologies.
Emerson’s study, “Enhance Food Safety with Less Cost” highlights how DIA, one of the world’s leading discount food retailers, is using intelligent facility management technology to help its stores in China deliver food safety while reducing operating costs. The study is based on interviews with 548 household shoppers in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
