Beijing, China, December 10, 2013 – Hisense Air Conditioning Company and Emerson Climate Technologies today announced in Beijing that they have launched the residential central air conditioner powered by the Copeland Scroll™ variable speed compressor with Enhanced Vapor Injection (EVI) technology. The two parties also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the aim of speeding up the adoption of variable speed scroll and EVI technologies in the residential central air conditioning market.
Emerson Climate Technologies introduced the Copeland Scroll™ variable speed compressor with EVI technology to the Asia Pacific market earlier this year. Designed for residential and light commercial HVAC applications, including VRF systems, the Copeland Scroll™ variable speed compressor design effectively combines Emerson’s latest technologies and can provide a comprehensive solution for heating and cooling systems. With its EVI and variable speed features, it solves three technical problems at once that previously challenged the air conditioning industry: poor heating capacity in low ambient, loud operation noise and low energy efficiency.
Emerson’s comprehensive testing results show that variable capacity control coupled with EVI technology can enable efficient and reliable system heating performance in temperatures as low as -25°C, with effective heating at low temperatures approaching the system’s rated refrigeration capability. The technology helps consumers to enjoy a comfortable indoor environment all year-round while substantially cutting electricity bills.
China has seen more frequent occurrences of air pollution and extreme weather in recent years. This has led to the re-evaluation of traditional heating methods in winter and ways to reduce carbon emissions while improving the efficiency and heating comfort associated with these methods. For instance, ordinary air conditioners are ineffective as heating systems because of their inability to operate effectively and reliably at low ambient. By contrast, the Copeland Scroll™ variable speed compressor has the combined advantages of both EVI and variable speed, allowing the heating capacity and COP to increase by 20%. Even at -25°C ambient temperature, the system can produce a water temperature as high as 50°C degree, making it an ideal solution for heating in winter. In addition, air conditioning systems with the Copeland Scroll™ variable speed compressor offer ±0.5°C accuracy in temperature control and a noise level as low as 55 dBA, creating the best comfort for users.

Hisense has also created an innovative defrosting technology that can reduce the defrost time of an outdoor unit by 30% and expand the time between defrostings to 6 hours; effectively solving the problem of long defrosting times and frequent defrosting cycles to ensure the stable operation of the system.
