Emerson Climate Technologies Thailand Celebrates Production of 10 Millionth Compressor with US Ambassador as Key Guest

Emerson Reinforces Technology Leadership in Asia with Major Milestone

RAYONG, THAILAND (July 27, 2011) – Emerson Climate Technologies Thailand plant celebrated a major milestone with the manufacture of its 10 millionth scroll compressor since beginning production in 1997. The facility, located in Rayong, manufactures air-conditioning and refrigeration scroll compressors.  Since its development, Emerson’s patented Copeland Scroll™ technology has transformed the industry, bringing unprecedented improvements in comfort, energy efficiency and environmental impact.

The Rayong factory is the first plant in Asia manufacturing scroll compressors and hermetic motors for export to many countries in the region and around the world. These products are used in applications such as residential, commercial, medical/cryogenics, industrial, food service and retail, rail transport, sea containers and refrigerated trucks.

This milestone reinforces Emerson’s leadership in Asia as it continues to specifically meet the region’s needs for efficiency, lower energy consumption and reliability.

United States Ambassador to Thailand, Kristie Kenney, joined the celebration and met various teams and employees where she was given an overview of the plant’s assembly process and product evaluation labs.

“The ambassador’s visit meant a lot to our employees as it became a moment for them to show our proud accomplishments here at Emerson Electric Thailand. It was also a great opportunity to show how we have embraced Thai culture while achieving a high level of performance required of a successful multinational company,” said Mike Tampurages, Rayong plant managing director.

The facility received several awards and certifications for its excellence in manufacturing and safety, including both the Emerson Award for Operational Excellence and Emerson International Safety Award. Only one of two Emerson plants worldwide received such awards in 2006.
