Design Services Network Named ENERGY STAR Lab for Commercial Food Service and HVAC Products

Lab Meets Criteria for New EPA Third-Party Certification Procedures

ST. LOUIS, January 18, 2011 – Design Services Network, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced today that the facility has been named a third-party test lab for the ENERGY STAR® program by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The lab is certified to test food service and HVAC products.

“ENERGY  STAR  partners  have  historically  been  able  to  test  their  products  in  any laboratory  of  their  choice,  and  submit  product  data  directly  to  the EPA  for  review pursuant  to  qualification.  Under  the  new  requirements,  partners  are  required  to have  their  products  tested by third-party labs like Design Services Network,” said Rajan Rajendran, director of engineering services, Design Services Network. “We went through a rigorous process to earn this certification and it is a testament to the hard work of our staff and their product neutrality that we have been selected as an ENERGY STAR laboratory.”

An independent operation, Design Services Network has been providing testing and consulting services to the food service and HVAC industries for 10 years. With this new certification, Design Services Network will be one of the few places in the U.S. that manufacturers can contract for the new ENERGY STAR third-party certification procedures that began December 31, 2010. Design Services Network is not only a test lab but offers a full range of engineering design services that can help clients optimize the energy-efficiency of their products.

Design Services Network is an EPA-recognized third-party testing lab for the following product categories:

Central Air Conditioners and Air Source Heat Pumps
Commercial Ice Machines
Commercial Refrigerators and Freezers
New Refrigerated Beverage Vending Machines
Light Commercial HVAC

“ENERGY STAR is used by millions of Americans to identify products that reduce energy costs and protect the environment. We’re proud to be a part of the process to bring environmentally friendly products to the marketplace,” Rajendran said.
