EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES APPOINTS NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF CORPORATE QUALITY/TECHNICAL SERVICES

ST. LOUIS, May 9, 2008 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced the appointment of Clyde Verhoff to the position of vice president, Corporate Quality/Technical Services.

In this position Verhoff will be responsible for supporting the company in many activities such as reliability engineering, applied mechanics, sound and vibration technology, metrology/gage design, warranty analysis, quality services and quality measurement services.

“Clyde’s deep experience as an engineer on core programs like our Copeland Scroll^® compressor line gives him the insight to take our quality programs to the next level,” said Rich DeNuzzo, vice president and chief financial officer, Emerson Climate Technologies.

Verhoff has been with Emerson Climate Technologies for 20 years. In his most recent role as director, Global Unitary Scroll Engineering and his prior role as director, Commercial Scroll Engineering, he was instrumental in the launch of several scroll platforms. He has also held positions working in scroll operations as well as advanced manufacturing engineering.

Verhoff has a BS in welding engineering from The Ohio State University and has recently completed the Emerson Leadership Program.
