EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES APPOINTS NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCT PLANNING FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING DIVISION

ST. LOUIS, February 14, 2008 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced the appointment of John R. Ward to Vice President Product Planning for the Air Conditioning Division. In this position Ward will specifically focus on the major residential scroll platforms and new product programs, and will be responsible for defining and leading activities around the 2010 R-410A refrigerant transition.

“John has made many contributions including the launch of Copeland Scroll Digital™ in Asia, work on the Copeland Scroll UltraTech™ modulating compressor and management of key platforms during his more than seven years with Emerson Climate Technologies,” said Scott Barbour, president, Emerson Climate Technologies Air Conditioning Division.

Ward served for 25 years in the U.S. Air Force where he held several operational and management roles, attaining the rank of Colonel.  He has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United States Air Force Academy, a Master of Science Degree in Human Resources from the University of Utah, and a second Master of Science Degree in Systems Management/Cost Analysis from the Air Force Institute of Technologies.
