ST. LOUIS, October 17, 2007
– Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR),
today announced that its E2 Facility Management System has been
installed in over 50 locations owned and operated by Kwik-Trip, Inc.
Kwik-Trip is
just one of many leading convenience store retailers installing
Emerson’s E2 CX system to more efficiently monitor and manage energy
consumption within their facilities. Already installed in more than
50 locations, the retailer plans to continue upgrading other
existing stores to the E2 system as well as using the E2 in all new
stores. Kwik-Trip operates 330 conveniences stores across Wisconsin,
Minnesota, and Iowa, and is widely considered an industry leader
with its unique focus on customer service and innovative operations.
Part of
Emerson’s Intelligent Store™ architecture, the E2 Facility
Management System is a control system that manages all lighting,
refrigeration, and HVAC systems, as well as controls all the
anti-condensate heaters in a store. Integrating all these systems in
the E2 enables multiple stores to be monitored from a central
location.
By collecting
and analyzing data both for individual stores and for their entire
network, Kwik-Trip can quickly identify where improvements in
equipment performance need to be made. Using this, and other Emerson
technologies, the Kwik-Trip location in Rochester, MN documented a
seven percent reduction in electrical consumption (kWh) and seven
percent demand reduction (kW) per year.
“With fuel
margins down and more pressure than ever on operating profits, our
use of Emerson’s technologies has delivered greater energy and
maintenance savings—helping us identify opportunities to further
reduce our energy consumption,” said Erik Peterson, Kwik-Trip’s
store engineering manager.
Todd Bornholdt,
Kwik-Trip’s communication center manager remarked, “This technology
allows store managers to focus on delivering superior customer
service, while enabling our operations staff to keep stores
comfortable and running optimally.”
The E2 CX system
is designed, manufactured and installed by the Retail Solutions
division of Emerson Climate Technologies. Emerson’s Retail Solutions
division is a leading provider of convenience store refrigeration
and building control systems around the world. “We are proud to be
working with Kwik-Trip, and are excited that they have chosen to use
many of Emerson’s products and services. It is Emerson’s goal to
improve human comfort, safeguard our food, and protect the
environment,” said Bill Coulombe, president of Emerson’s Retail
Solutions group. With approximately 20,000 installations and over
5,100 sites actively monitored, Retail Solutions is a global leader
in facility management and monitoring systems for convenience
stores, supermarkets, box retail, and restaurant facilities.
