EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES’
INTELLIGENT STORE™ DISCUS® COMPRESSOR ACCUMULATES 5 MILLION
OPERATING HOURS WITHOUT FAILURE
ST. LOUIS,
September 4, 2007 –
Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR),
announced today a new monumental mark for their Intelligent
Store™ Discus® compressors in supermarket refrigeration
applications. Since the first field test in 2003 and product
launch in 2005, Emerson Climate Technologies has installed over
600 Intelligent Store Discus compressors into supermarket
refrigeration systems. Since then, they have accumulated five
million operating hours without a compressor application
failure, marking a significant achievement in reliability.
The
Intelligent Store Discus compressor offers many features that
allow customers to experience fewer compressor failures, thereby
saving cost, reducing equipment downtime and avoiding food
spoilage. By integrating several traditional components into one
control module, the Intelligent Store Discus compressor requires
less wiring and fewer connection points, improving system
quality and ensuring installation ease and consistency. And, it
is compatible with the Emerson Climate Technologies Intelligent
Store Architecture and E2 Facility Management System, allowing
supermarket chains and technicians to better troubleshoot,
monitor and control their system operations.
Many customers have experienced improved refrigeration system
operation with the use of the Intelligent Store Discus
compressor. Price Chopper, a supermarket chain in the northeast
United States, installed their first Intelligent Store Discus
compressor in February of 2005. Price Chopper chose the
Intelligent Store Discus compressor because of its many
benefits, including improved commissioning, maintenance
advantages, reduced downtime and fewer refrigerant leak points.
And, as a result of these features, they have yet to experience
a failure on their Intelligent Store Discus Compressors.
“Intelligent Store Discus compressors do most of the thinking
for you. The diagnostics on the compressor inform you of system
problems, so that you can do predictive maintenance and avoid
failures”, said Benny Smith, director of maintenance for Price
Chopper. “With products like this, Emerson Climate Technologies
will continue to stay ahead of the curve in supermarket
refrigeration.”
Smith will be discussing this topic further at the Food
Marketing Institute Energy and Technical Services Conference on
September 9-12, 2007 at the Marriott Denver Tech Center in
Denver, Colorado.
