CREATES NEW LEGAL ENTITY: EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES, INC. – NO
CHANGE TO COPELAND® BRAND PRODUCTS
Reorganization Will Not Affect Existing Jobs, Locations or Products

LOUIS, September 29, 2006 – Copeland Corporation, a subsidiary
of Emerson (NYSE:EMR), announced that as of October 1, 2006, its
operations will be reorganized into four legal entities. All
Copeland® brand products will be sold by a new legal
entity named Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. and manufactured by
its three subsidiaries, CR Compressors LLC, Scroll Compressors LLC
and Copeland Corporation LLC. This legal reorganization does not
affect Copeland brand products, existing jobs, manufacturing
locations or international businesses. Employees will be assigned to
one of the legal entities.
"This legal
reorganization allows us to better protect our intellectual
properties and support the Emerson Climate Technologies™
brand," said Tom Bettcher, executive vice president of Emerson and
CEO of Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. "We will continue to stay
focused on creating, innovating and producing the excellent Copeland
brand products that are so well known around the world."
The legal
reorganization will have no effect on employment levels or the
company’s involvement in communities in which it has facilities. "We
have very strong ties to the communities in which we are located,
and we will maintain the support and commitment we have shown to
community partners and civic and charitable organizations," said
Bettcher.
As a result of this legal reorganization, some building signs will
be changed. The Copeland brand name will still be used in product
names.
