EMERSON’S
INTELLIGENT STORE™ ENABLES SIGNIFICANT OPERATIONAL SAVINGS
FOR METRO INC.
Emerson’s
integrated facility management technology proves its value for Canada’s
third largest supermarket chain
ST. LOUIS, Sept
8, 2006 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE:
EMR), today announced that it has reached an agreement with METRO INC.
to install its E2 Facility Management System in stores across all METRO
banners, bringing the total number of installed E2s at METRO to 90.
METRO INC., a
central Canadian retailer, is installing E2 systems to more efficiently
monitor and manage energy usage within its facilities. This latest
initiative will ensure installation of Emerson’s E2 Facility Management
System in more than 75 METRO locations, and the retailer plans to
continue upgrading to the E2 system at both its existing and new stores.
Part of
Emerson’s Intelligent Store™ architecture, the E2 Facility
Management System is a control system that manages all lighting,
refrigeration, HVAC and other equipment in a store – enabling multiple
stores to be monitored from a central location. By collecting and
analyzing data both for individual stores and for its entire network,
METRO can quickly identify where improvements in equipment performance
need to be made. This technology has helped many supermarket operators
reduce their annual energy and maintenance expenses significantly.
To assist in
providing temperature data for METRO’s food-safety initiative, Emerson’s
Verifresh ® wireless temperature-monitoring system was
selected to monitor temperatures in all refrigerated cases. This system
is easily installed in both existing and new stores, allowing a retailer
to establish a food-safety initiative with virtually no disruption to
shopper experience. Verifresh helps ensure that METRO’s customers
receive the highest-quality products possible.
The E2 system
is designed, manufactured and installed by the Computer Process Controls
division of Emerson Climate Technologies. Computer Process Controls is
the leading provider of supermarket refrigeration and building control
systems in the United States and Canada. With approximately 17,000
installations worldwide, Computer Process Controls is a global leader in
retail facility management systems for supermarkets, box retail and
convenience-store applications.
Emerson’s Intelligent Store architecture establishes an integrated suite
of products and services that provides retail operators with a new level
of sophistication and insight into their operations. When integrated or
linked together, these innovative Emerson Climate Technologies™
products and services can provide maintenance, energy and reliability
gains. Also included in the Intelligent Store suite are the E2 Facility
Management System, Control Link ™ electromechanical
control platform and Intelligent Store Discus® compressor,
select Lennox® rooftop units and other third-party devices.
