EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES CELEBRATES SAFETY
MILESTONE AT LOCAL COPELAND FACILITY
RUSHVILLE,
IND., March 10, 2006 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of
Emerson (NYSE:EMR), today celebrated a safety milestone at its local
Copeland Corporation facility. The celebration marks the facility’s
achievement of reaching one million hours worked without any loss time
injuries.
"We want to do
something special to recognize our employees for the dedication and
effort they put into their jobs every day," said Bernie Maxwell,
director of operations for the facility. "Since this is such a
significant milestone for us to achieve, we decided that a celebration
of this success would be the most appropriate. Safety has always been an
important issue for us, and protecting our people and the environment in
which we work makes our facility and its employees stronger and allows
us to be a more integral part of the overall success of Emerson Climate
Technologies."
The milestone
celebration on March 10 brought a number of V.I.P. guests to Rushville,
including: Rushville Mayor Robert Bridges; David Dunbar, president of
Copeland Refrigeration; Don Hirsch, Emerson director of safety;
Rushville facility safety committee members; and the facility’s
first-aid responders. Dunbar and Hirsch were guest speakers at the
milestone celebration.
Since opening
in 1980, the Rushville facility has reached several significant
milestones. Most recently, the facility celebrated its 25th anniversary.
The company also recently recognized 34 employees who have worked at the
location since its inception. In 1995 the facility received
certification for ISO 9002, a strict set of international standards that
requires manufacturers to meet customer, regulatory and performance
requirements.
The Rushville
location is the only Copeland facility in the United States to produce
the company’s line of Discus® compressors. The facility
provides these compressors to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs),
in addition to remanufacturing the compressors for sale to
refrigeration-parts wholesalers. Newly manufactured compressors are
installed by OEMs for use in commercial refrigeration systems that are
in turn sold to supermarkets, convenience stores and other commercial
and industrial locations. When a Discus compressor in this equipment is
replaced, the unit is shipped back to Rushville to be restored to its
original specifications, at which point it is sold to a wholesaler, who
stores the unit until it is needed by a customer.
"The Rushville
facility is integral to Copeland’s refrigeration business and is key to
our ability to meet our customers’ needs for reliable, energy-efficient
solutions. Without the continued dedication of our employees in
Rushville, we would not be able to meet our customers’ expectations,"
said David Dunbar. "We are proud of our workforce here for maintaining
safety in the facility, and we thank our employees for the achievements
they have accomplished through the years."
