EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF COPELAND SCHOLARSHIPS

SIDNEY, OHIO – June 28, 2006 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced that the Copeland Corporation recently awarded academic scholarships to three local students. The students were Rita Cook from Sidney, Casey Hilgefort from Sidney and Gina Daniel, from Fort Loramie. Copeland is part of the Emerson Climate Technologies business group.

Cook was selected from among 20 applicants to receive one of two four-year Copeland scholarships in the amount of $6,000. The scholarships, which are given to children of Copeland employees, are awarded based on a number of criteria, including grade point average, class rank, national test scores, school activities and community involvement. Cook, the daughter of Lucy Cook, Manager of Market and Pricing Administration, plans to pursue a degree in chemistry at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The second Copeland scholarship was awarded to Casey Hilgefort in the amount of $6,000. Hilgefort is the daughter of Kim Hilgefort, IT Business Systems Lead Analyst. Hilgefort will study business/marketing at the University of South Carolina.

The third scholarship winner, Daniel, was awarded Copeland’s Rudolf G. Berg Scholarship in the amount of $1,500. The one year scholarship is named after Rudolf Berg, who served as vice president of sales for Copeland during the company’s early years. He also played a significant role in shaping the curriculum of the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School. The scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s seriousness of purpose regarding academic and life goals, need and academic standing. Daniel, daughter of Edward and Linda Daniel of Fort Loramie, was selected from among 56 applicants and plants to study biochemistry at Purdue University.
