EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES INTRODUCES ULTRATECH™ VARIABLE SPEED MOTOR AT 2007 AHR EXPO

ST. LOUIS, January 29, 2007 - Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), introduced the new Emerson UltraTech™ Variable Speed Motor at the 2007 AHR Expo in Dallas, Texas. The UltraTech Variable Speed Motor is a 4-wire, two-way communicating, Electronically Commutated Motor and control that receives, digests and follows commands sent to it and acknowledges that the information has been received, resulting in improved system performance and reliability.

The motor provides an array of built-in benefits for contractors such as a minimal number of SKUs to programmable software and stored history. Other key benefits include:

• Better efficiency than existing PSC motors in furnace and air handler blower applications

• Lower CFM levels than PSC motors, for improved comfort in re-circulation mode

• A large range of CFM points, for improved cooling and heating comfort

• Continuous use design, for long-term air filtration at minimal energy consumption

• Lower sound levels on low speed, start-up and coast-down than currently available variable-speed products
