COPELAND SCROLL DIGITAL™ NAMED 2007 AHR EXPO INNOVATION AWARD WINNER
Emerson Climate Technologies also garners two honorable mentions; Intelligent Store Discus® and White-Rodgers' UltraTechTM Unitary Control
ST. LOUIS, January 29, 2007 - Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), announced today that Copeland Scroll Digital™ is the winner of a 2007 AHR Expo Innovation Award. Innovation Award Honorable Mentions were awarded to Emerson Climate Technologies for their Copeland Intelligent Store Discus® compressor and their White-Rodgers UltraTech Unitary Control.
Copeland Scroll Digital technology provides infinitely variable capacity modulation and is ideal for commercial applications with widely varying loads and a need to maintain precise temperature and humidity control. It offers an innovative way to modulate the capacity of the compressor from 10 to 100 percent, so that the output precisely matches the changing cooling demand of the room, and it does this without changing the speed of the motor. This approach to capacity modulation is as much as 30 percent more efficient than traditional hot-gas bypass and is capable of holding a precise temperature to within half a degree Fahrenheit. The innovative design allows for a quieter, more efficient, and highly controllable unit. Enhancing a systems performance and providing a quality product for Contractors and homeowners alike.
Honorable Mentions
The UltraTech Unitary Control is part of Emerson's UltraTech communicating system. The first-of-its-kind control combines several electromechanical controls with Emerson's Comfort Alert™ Diagnostics to provide an unprecedented level of system reliability, ease of service, enhanced performance and communication to the homeowner. The product is currently available for installation with original equipment manufacturers. The UltraTech Unitary Control incorporates a contactor, defrost control, two-speed compressor and fan control and stand-alone short-cycle control with Comfort Alert Diagnostics onto a single circuit board with microprocessor control. This feature allows the outdoor unit to monitor its operation, display status and error codes and store fault history for service-technician retrieval. The Active Protection benefit of Comfort Alert Diagnostics helps the homeowner avoid potentially damaging compressor operation by automatically shutting down the system for service and repair if a major system problem occurs.
Copeland Intelligent Store Discus offers onboard diagnostics that provides real-time intelligence that alerts end-users and/or technicians to any potential problems, before they can damage the compressor and before a failure can cost the end-user valuable inventory. Intelligent Store Discus offers increased installation confidence, with fewer components, less wiring and
A smaller number of connection points. The compressor allows end-users to centralize compressor-monitoring operations, allowing technicians to troubleshoot compressor problems before traveling to the site.
