EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES™ INTRODUCES NEW COPELAND SCROLL™ 30-HORSEPOWER COMPRESSOR

World’s largest scroll compressor extends benefits of scroll technology to larger commercial applications

ORLANDO, February 7, 2005 – Emerson Climate Technologies™, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today introduced its new Copeland Scroll™ 30-horsepower compressor, the world’s largest scroll compressor for use in commercial applications. This large compressor is ideal for larger commercial applications, such as 30- to 300-ton air conditioning systems and chillers found in shopping centers, office buildings and hospitals.

“Emerson Climate Technologies continues to extend the reach of Copeland Scroll technology into new industries and beyond the applications that scroll has typically been used in,” said Scott Barbour, president of Copeland’s air conditioning division. “The 30-horsepower model builds upon our tradition of developing innovative and industry-leading technologies. We launched a 25-horsepower model in 2001 that was at the time the world’s largest scroll compressor model. Now, we’ve brought even more value to the commercial market by extending the benefits associated with scroll technology to even larger and more unique commercial applications.”

Copeland Scroll technology is based on a simple design that also offers greater reliability than traditional reciprocating and screw compressors. According to Barbour, the 30hp Copeland Scroll provides the typical benefits of scroll technology, including higher efficiency and quieter operation. It also offers significant applied cost savings in large rooftop and chiller applications by reducing the total number of scroll compressors and minimizing the amount of piping and wiring needed.

Emerson Climate Technologies currently offers the 30 horsepower Copeland Scroll in both a single compressor unit and a 60 horsepower tandem configuration. It is also currently available in R-22 and R-407C refrigerants. The company has plans to launch, in early 2006, a 30hp Copeland Scroll compressor that is optimized for use with the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A.

The 30-horsepower Copeland Scroll will be on display in the Emerson Climate Technologies booth (# 2510) during the AHR Expo February 7-9 in Orlando.
