EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES™ TO SHOW BUILDERS HOW HVAC SOLUTIONS CAN INCREASE HUMAN COMFORT & ENERGY EFFICIENCY

ST. LOUIS, January 11, 2004 – Emerson Climate Technologies™, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today provided a preview of what the building industry can expect from its exhibit at the 2005 International Builders Show, January 13-16 in Orlando, Florida. Emerson Climate Technologies is the world’s leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions for residential, industrial and commercial applications.

Dick Schul, Emerson Climate Technologies group vice president, said this year’s Show provides a unique platform for communicating to builders that they are missing a valuable opportunity to improve customer satisfaction and increase home sale prices. By understanding and utilizing advanced and integrated HVAC solutions, builders can significantly increase human comfort without sacrificing energy efficiency.

“The heating, ventilation and air conditioning industry is currently undergoing a transformation, which is being driven by changes in regulations and advances in technology,“ said Schul. “Only by being aware of these changes and understanding how they will affect their industry can homebuilders take advantage of the opportunities presented and continue to meet the growing needs of homeowners.”

Emerson Climate Technologies has recently conducted a number of surveys that show that homeowners are very interested in HVAC technologies that improve human comfort and energy efficiency. In one study, one-third of homeowners said they would consider purchasing a high-efficiency two-stage air conditioner that provides more even temperature and humidity control. In another survey, “inconsistent temperature throughout the house” was the most common complaint people had about their HVAC system.

In an effort to educate builders on the innovative solutions available, Emerson Climate Technologies will spotlight a number of technologies at the show, including:

UltraTech™ Home Series – Presents a new concept in residential heating and cooling technology that provides a grouping of the most advanced, energy-efficient products that can either stand alone as an individual application, or be combined for a more complete system solution. The best-in-class series features several first-to-market innovations that can enhance human comfort, reduce residential energy usage, and provide better HVAC system protection.

White-Rodgers ComfortPlus™ Zoning System – Eliminates temperature fluctuations by creating separate comfort zones throughout the house. It combines a separate programmable thermostat for as many zones as needed, along with a central control panel that automatically activates motorized dampers inside each zone trunk line. The result is complete temperature control and consistency in each zone with improved energy efficiency – without the maintenance and installation cost of an additional HVAC system.
