Emerson Climate Technologies Introduces The UltraTech™ Thermostat

New thermostat from White-Rodgers elevates the UltraTech™ Home Series to a new level of performance and benefits for contractors and homeowners

ANAHEIM, January 26, 2004 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today introduced the UltraTech™ Thermostat.  The thermostat, designed by White-Rodgers, is the latest addition to the UltraTech Home Series, best-in-class technologies from Emerson that deliver the industry’s most advanced, energy efficient heating and cooling solutions available for residential HVAC systems.

The UltraTech Thermostat elevates the UltraTech Home Series to an even higher level of performance. When combined with the Copeland Scroll UltraTech™ compressor and Comfort Alert™ Diagnostics, the thermostat delivers superior temperature and humidity control, the industry’s highest efficiency, and enhanced system protection. It controls the two-stage scroll compressor and a variable speed blower motor to maximize cooling efficiency and optimize home comfort. And, when paired with Comfort Alert™ Diagnostics, the UltraTech Thermostat can alert the homeowner to problems and shut the system down automatically. This unique feature helps protect the scroll compressor and eliminates significant repair costs.

The UltraTech Thermostat also works with whole house humidifiers for total, year-round comfort. In winter months, the thermostat adds humidity to the home; in the summer, it removes it. Recent studies have shown that decreasing humidity allows homeowners to raise the room temperature and maintain the same comfort level during summer months. In the same respect, increasing humidity allows the homeowner to lower the room temperature and maintain the same comfort level during the winter months. Properly controlled humidity also improves indoor air quality by decreasing concentrations of air pollutants, such as mold and other harmful organisms.
