Drivers and Superheat Controllers
Emerson valve controllers are optimized for the requirements of refrigeration and air conditioning. They perform all control tasks which have been performed by conventional valves such as superheat control or capacity control.
 Universal Driver Module The EXD-U00 universal driver enables the operation of the EX4-EX8 stepper motor driven valves used in applications such as solenoid valves, electronic expansion valves, hot gas bypass or evaporator pressure regulator as capacity control, crankcase pressure regulator, heat reclaim regulator, and liquid level control. The rechargeable backup battery ECP-024 can be used to close a valve in case of power loss.

 Superheat Controller The EC3-X33 stand-alone superheat controllers maintain stable superheat control with stepper motor driven electronic control valves and is used for air conditioning, refrigeration, and industrial applications. Parameters can be loaded through the EDC 002 display. In addition version EC3-X32 offers WebServer functionality for monitoring and configuration through a standard WebBrowser. A rechargeable backup battery is built-in and can be used to close a valve in case of power loss.

The EC3-D73 stand-alone digital superheat controllers maintain stable superheat control with stepper motor driven electronic control valves and automatic synchronization with the PWM capacity control valve incorporated in the Copeland Scroll Digital™ compressor technology. It is used for air conditioning, refrigeration, and industrial applications. Parameters can be loaded through the ECD 002 display. In addition Version EC3-D72 offers WebServer functionality for monitoring and configuration through a standard WebBrowser. A rechargeable backup battery is built-in and can be used to close a valve in case of power loss.

Superheat Economizer Controller

EXD-HP1/2 are economical superheat controllers mainly designed for heating applications to offer standard solutions with Copeland scrolls, in particular with liquid and vapor injection. EXD-HP1 is designed to operate one EXM/EXL electronic expansion valve, while EXD-HP2 is capable of driving two individual independent EXM/EXL electronic expansion valves. Conventional heat pumps, rooftop units, precision cooling (telecom, shelter) and medical equipment cooling are further suitable ranges of applications.  

Valve Control Module

For OEM customers who want to use the patented superheat control algorithm in their proprietary controllers we offer the Valve Control Module (VCM), a hybrid electronic device with stepper motor drive for the EX4-8 valves.
