Pasteurization is a process of heating food to a specific temperature for a definite period of time and cooling it down immediately afterwards. The purpose is to slow the microbial growth in food. The process is used for the production of various products, for example:

In many cases the process of cooling the food is realized by indirect cooling with the help of process chillers. In this case a secondary water or glycol loop is used to transfer the heat from the food.
