The next generation Copeland Scroll™ UltraTech™ compressor has been redesigned to offer improvements in performance and quality. The redesigned Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor increases performance from 1.5% to 5.5% at full load and 2% to 4% improvement at part-load on the 5-ton models (ZPS49, 51, and 60K5E). Not only has performance increased but so has the operating envelope, an expansion up to 145°F.
The Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor offers a better means of powering heat pumps and air conditioning systems. Building on established scroll technology, the Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor provides superior humidity control, greater efficiency and quieter operation, providing unsurpassed reliability and performance along with increased comfort and reduced energy bills.
Modulating compressors provide more precise temperature control, lower humidity, and greater energy efficiency in comparison to fixed capacity compressors. The Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor modulates between two capacity settings, 67% and 100%. Two internal bypass ports enable the compressor to run at 67% part-load capacity during times when only part-load heating or cooling is needed. When demand increases, the modulation ring is activated, sealing the bypass ports and instantly shifting capacity to 100%. Running for longer periods at part load capacity (67%) lowers the humidity inside your building and allows the HVAC system to operate more quietly. With the redesigned Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressor the VA load is reduced to an expected range of 2-5 VA.


Field testing shows the improved temperature and humidity control provided by Copeland Scroll UltraTech compressors compared to fixed compressors. But, more importantly, inside comfort levels are maintained, regardless of how hot or cold it is outside.
