equipment. They key advantages to this new modulating technology include significantly lower energy consumption compared to standard fixed speed
compressors, and drastically reduced applied cost by eliminating the
need for many redundant temperature control components. For 15 years, the
patented axial and radial compliance of the Copeland Scroll compressor have
provided a decisive reliability advantage by allowing the scroll elements to
mechanically separate under the most extreme circumstances. Now, Digital
technology actively manages axial compliance, achieving capacity modulation
from 10% to 100%. Precise temperature control is achieved in a simple,

Traditional modulation technologies consume close to full-load energy no matter
what the required capacity. Copeland® Digital Scroll™ technology reduces
power consumption linearly as it modulates capacity, resulting in optimum
system performance and control. The result is precision capacity control, which
can lower energy consumption in some applications by as much as 47%.

 
The Copeland Digital Scroll™ compressor includes
a control method that is much simpler than other modulation schemes. A long-life
solenoid is incorporated which loads and unloads the scroll members as required.

The Copeland Digital Scroll with
Modulation has been successfully integrated into R-22 and R-404A applications
including commercial air-conditioning, refrigerated transport, air dryers, and convenience stores.
