Copeland^® Scroll Digital™ technology continuously adjusts cooling power to precisely maintain the desired temperature level.  This is the first scroll compressor with the built-in capability to adjust its cooling power from 10% to 100%.  The key advantages to this new modulating technology include up to 30% better energy efficiency compared to standard fixed speed compressors, and drastically reduced applied cost.

Sea containers face the worst operating conditions imaginable.  They travel to every corner of the world, through extreme temperatures, sometimes running for hours-on-end in a high ambient environment.  In order for Copeland^® Scroll Digital™ technology to efficiently operate within the higher compression ratios experienced in these applications, Emerson designed a more robust scroll that could guard against the heat buildup and gas re-expansion associated with these conditions. By incorporating additional new design features, such as vapor injection – which increases system capacity while keeping the scroll elements cool – the compressors can run more efficiently at continuous operation.
