Emerson Climate Technologies Business to Showcase Refrigeration Compressors in Use at Ice Center and New Product Testing Lab to Visiting Contractors

St. Louis, October 22, 2010 – Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc., a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced that Vilter Manufacturing is opening a new $1.6 million technology and innovation center at its Cudahy, Wisconsin facility. The new technology center will help Vilter, a compressor manufacturer, maintain a competitive lead in the engineering, development and testing of more energy efficient compressors, and expand its offerings in refrigeration by using environmentally friendly refrigerants like ammonia.

In conjunction with the opening of its technology center, Vilter will be hosting industrial refrigeration contractors from across the United States and Canada for a conference in Milwaukee, Oct. 26-27. Contractors will be hosted at a special event October 27 at Pettit National Ice Center, where they will have the opportunity to meet Gold Medal winner Bonnie Blair and other Olympic skaters who train at the facility.

In addition, contractors will go behind the scenes to see how Vilter’s technology produces a world-class ice surface to meet the demands of Olympic speed skaters.

“All speedskaters desire, first and foremost, clean, hard, fast ice.  Thanks to Vilter, its dedication to the Pettit Center, and extraordinary work, the compressors and refrigeration system here deliver ice conditions that meet the highest standards of our medal-winning skaters,” said Randy Dean, Pettit National Ice Center Executive Director. “What a great partnership on the local level, but with an international reach!  Vilter’s reputation for high quality in compressors is respected worldwide.  Its commitment to support the Pettit Center has helped to sustain the Center’s international reputation for excellence in speedskating.”

Vilter Manufacturing was founded in Milwaukee in 1867. The company was acquired by Emerson Climate Technologies in 2009 and maintains its offices in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Vilter produces a complete line of compressors for industrial refrigeration and gas compression applications.
