Fernando Guevara studied engineering at De La Salle University in 1969 and completed his Bachelor’s degree at Adamson University in 1972. He started his career at the Philippine Appliance Corp., followed by plant engineering work at Koppel and design work at various local and international consultancy firms. He had a two year stint at Zuhair Fayez and Associates in doing mechanical design work and in Pacific Modair Corporation in Guam as Chief Engineer.
He founded and became the president of Guevara and Partners, Inc. (GPI) in 1993. The company provides mechanical and electrical engineering services for various projects such as industrial, commercial, institutional, hospitals, recreational and residential establishments. Among GPI’s expertise includes services for HVAC systems and project feasibility studies for energy conservation. He also serves as president of GJ Engineers, Inc., an engineering and design consulting company servicing US and other international clients. GPI serves as its off-shore partner.
Among the notable projects that he designed are the Makati Shangri-La Hotel, The Enterprise Center and the 6750 Office Building which won the ASEAN Energy Awards in 2004.
Mr. Guevara has over 30 years experience in mechanical engineering design. He is a Professional Mechanical Engineer and is a member of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers, Chairman of the Technical Committee on Building Energy Standard of the Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air conditioning and Refrigeration Engineers (PSVARE).
He is also a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota and California in the US.
